700 Days of Isolation
When the local government announced a two-week class suspension
due to the rising cases of Novel Corona Virus(NCoV-19), now called Covid-19, I
was very happy due to the fact that the last quarter exams were postponed. But
after four days of the suspension, the National Government declared a total
lockdown. We students were left with an unfinished school year. As I can
recall, during the 1st month of the lock, it was not that bad because I had my
phone and the Internet. Also, I am sure that me and my family are safe. But as
time goes by, I could say life was boring because, when you do the same thing
over and over, I could say it is not fun. During these times, I do not worry
about the virus because it has not yet reached the province.
That short 2-week class suspension would later become 7 months
It was October of the year 2020. During this time, I didn't realize that an
unfinished Grade 7 student would now be in Grade 8. My thoughts on modular
learning would be much easier than on face-to-face learning. But not all of
what you expected would happen. I did not know that modular learning would be
so difficult. I must answer some specific tasks without the guidance of my
teachers, and there are also a lot of reasons why I have difficulty with these
types of learning. First, I would say that I am not that good at adapting to
new methods. I am also not that good at self-learning. And there are a lot of
distractions since I have to use my gadgets and the Internet in order to access
the Learning Activity Sheets. I get easily distracted by online games, which
makes it harder to concentrate on my schoolwork. Eight months go by. It is July
of the year 2021, and I am now onto the last set of the last quarter. I didn't
expect that I have now finished the first 2 years of my junior high school
life.
It's now September of the year 2021, and I am beginning the
third year of my junior high school life. My opinion for this year: since I
have already moved on, I thought that I had already adapted to the new method
of learning, but to my surprise, it is more difficult than the previous year.
During the previous years, since it is modular learning, I didn't take the
lessons seriously, and I am going into the 9th grade without even a slight
understanding of the lesson. I said to myself that I should take the lessons
seriously, especially the major subject, because when face-to-face happens, I
will not understand my lesson. But, just like they say, it is easier said than
done. Just after 2 weeks, I can't seem to concentrate on my studies due to the
distractions. Those 2 weeks became 2 years of class suspension. Thankfully, I
finished 9th grade, and I am just an unfinished 1st year junior high student
now going on my last year of junior high. The Department of Education has
announced that the school year 2022–2023 will now be face-to-face. I am not
that excited about going to school since I will need to change my lifestyle.
